Make your own submission
The single most effective thing a resident can do is lodge an individual objection with Hawkesbury City Council. Commissioners and council read every submission, and a letter in your own words, describing your own experience, carries far more weight than a signature on a petition. Council continues to accept objections, so it is not too late.
The details you'll need
Application: DA0060/26: Mixed-use development comprising two fast food premises and a centre-based child care centre, Bells Line of Road, Kurmond
Send to: The General Manager, Hawkesbury City Council, 366 George Street, Windsor NSW 2756
Email: council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au. Put "Objection - DA0060/26" in the subject line.
How to write it in five simple steps
- Say who you are. Your name, address, and that you object to DA0060/26.
- Write in your own words. Don't copy a template. Genuine, individual letters matter most.
- Describe how it affects you. Your daily drive and the traffic you already experience; your children and their route to school; what you see, hear and love about living here; wildlife you've observed near the site. Specific, personal detail is exactly what decision-makers need.
- Pick the issues you know best. Road safety, students at Colo High School, rural character and visual impact, wildlife, traffic. One or two issues covered well beats ten covered thinly.
- Ask for refusal, and sign off. Politely ask council to refuse the application, and include your name and date.
A few tips
- Keep it respectful and factual. Calm letters are the persuasive ones.
- One page is plenty. Two at most.
- Every household member can submit their own letter, and each one counts separately.
- Photos of local conditions (traffic queues, wildlife, the site) strengthen a submission.
